At Congress, the Healthy Lungs for Life campaign will launch its new theme: Take the Active Option. We think this campaign offers a great opportunity to raise awareness of the role of physical activity in lung health, which is why the respiratory infection assembly of the ERS, Assembly 10, are launching our competition: "10,000 steps for Assembly 10". EMBARC encourages members to participate in this important initiative.

ERS assembly head Stefano Aliberti explains "Of course we hope that delegates from all ERS Assemblies will take part in the effort to walk 10,000 steps a day (or even more) throughout Congress, but we would like Assembly 10 to lead the way. Take pictures of you and your colleagues as you Take the Active Option. You can share your results at the Healthy Lungs or Life stand, on Twitter using the hashtag #ERS10Ksteps or on the Healthy Lungs for Life Facebook page."

You can measure your steps using various apps available for mobile devices or, if you are quick, you can get a limited edition Healthy Lungs for Life pedometer at the stand in the World Village.

"We want as many people as possible to get involved and compete to get the most steps. I’ll be tweeting throughout Congress, you can follow us @ERS_Assembly10, and make sure you follow @ERStalk and the hashtag #ERS10Ksteps. A list of the delegates achieving the most steps each day will be posted on the ERS Congress website."
